D W Plastics’ new manufacturing unit is now fully operational. The two-storey building consists of manufacturing and storage space which has allowed the company to extend its plastic extrusion manufacturing capacity to cater for the growth in business.
The unit is conveniently situated adjacent to the current factory which has enabled the streamlining of production and storage processes and provides essential additional manufacturing capacity. Four extruders are already operational and work is being carried out for the installation of another extrusion machine that was delivered in April.
Since 2010 the company has enjoyed rapid expansion despite the difficult economic conditions. The opening of the new facility is an integral part of the company’s long-term expansion plans to ...
One of our new customers has recently launched its new product into the European market and sold 500+ units and capsules in Europe in the first day. This is good news for Sterilock® Ltd and bodes well for the future of its specialised product.
Sterilock® Ltd’s Director, Richard Cook, praised D W Plastics by saying: "Thank you for your company’s brilliant forward thinking regarding the 20,000 capsule sleeves that you produced. Could not have made the order without it".
Local MP Andrew Tyrie re-visited D W Plastics last week to see the new factory unit and to get further insight into plastic extrusion manufacturing. Will Davis, DWP’s MD, showed the visitor around and explained some of the processes involved in the production of plastic extrusion profiles.
Andrew Tyrie said ‘I’ve seen a fast growing business today, which is great news for the area, creating jobs right in the heart of Chichester. A lot of manufacturing is recovering and thriving in the constituency and this is an example. It’s vital that businesses gets the infrastructure support they need, not just improvements to the A27, but, among other things, better drainage, too.’
A lighter weight flexible PVC decking product developed by D W Plastics together with Flexiteek was exhibited at the Southampton Boat Show.
The new product which is available in various colours is an alternative to real wood and is an attractive, practical decking solution for all types of boats. Compared to the regular product, the new decking is around 25% lighter and the heat transfer properties makes the deck feel cooler under foot.
The Camden Create Festival started on 13 May 2014 and the multi-coloured, translucent plastic tubes supplied by DWP have been on display on the chandelier-type structure outside Camden Town Tube Station.
The UPVC tubes were delivered on schedule the day before the Festival opened and the installation took place during the night of 12-13 May to avoid disruption to this busy area of London.
The temporary 'artwork' looks very impressive with the weather playing its part in creating a colourful light show through the clear plastic tubes.
D W Plastics is delighted to be participating in the Camden Create Festival due to be held on 13-15 May 2014. Working together with KSR Architects and Camden Town Unlimited, DWP will be supplying parts that will bring to life KSR’s design for the temporary ‘pavilion-style’ structure for the London Borough of Camden’s first annual Camden Create Festival.
DWP has been asked to manufacture the multi-coloured, translucent tubes which will be suspended from a lightweight truss system to form the chandelier-type structure. The vibrant sculpture will be located outside Camden Town Underground Station during the three-day festival.
This is an unusual project for DWP because it is a deviation from its normal, day-to-day business of supplying plastic extrusions to the construction, transport and marine industries. It will be the first time that any of its plastic products will be assembled to a create an artwork on public display.
On a recent trip to Poland one of our employees was called upon to put her newly refreshed First Aid skills to the test at Lublin Airport.
The intervention was required when a sixty-year old man collapsed unconscious on the floor and stopped breathing.
On Friday last week D W Plastics Ltd received a visit from our local MP, Andrew Tyrie, after he had been invited to see our thermo-plastic extrusion manufacturing facility in Chichester.
Mr Tyrie’s visit was prompted by correspondence from the company's Managing Director, Will Warren-Davis, regarding the Climate Change Act and climate levy charges on power which affect our SME manufacturing company.

D W Plastics is pleased to have supported our colleague, Andrew Davies, who last weekend helped to organise a sponsored motorbike ride in the South of England. The 80-mile round trip was in aid of the very worthwhile 'Tommy's Appeal' for Sanfilippo Syndrome.
As part of DWP's expansion plans, further investment in plant and machinery will be required during 2012.
A new 80mm single screw extruder has been recently acquired from Boston Matthews to cope with the ever increasing demand for larger flexible PVC decking profiles.
This latest PC-controlled extruder will help to improve the extrusion tolerances and quality of the end product. The inverter drive electric motor will reduce the maintenance requirement and at the same time help to give a tighter process control window.
D W Plastics continuously invests in delivering the highest quality solutions for our customers. With this in mind the company has purchased a wire eroder to enable the development team to keep a tighter control on the manufacture of the dies and formers for rigid and flexible plastic extrusion products and co-extrusions.
